Launching into adulthood can be hard. It can feel overwhelming, exploring who you are, your identities, feelings of instability, possibilities, excitement and uncertainty. It can feel like an emotional rollercoaster at times. Having a therapist as an ally on your life's journey can make navigating the complexities of emerging adulthood that much easier.I support you while you explore your life, exploring changes you decide to make, with the goal being to improve your mood, manage your anxiety and stress better, and enhance your daily functioning. You'll also gain better clarity about yourself, your goals, and your life's next steps.
I practice an integrative approach to psychotherapy and life coaching. You and I will collaborate and find the unique stress management techniques that work best for how you're wired, that feel authentic and easy to implement in your life. We'll explore ways we can improve your mood, lessen your anxiety, manage your ADHD and emotions better, and overall improve your self esteem and sense of self. You will leave empowered to be the hero of your life's journey, having built skills and resilience to overcome obstacles. We will explore ways to approach different situation, helping you build skills in therapy that help you with improving your interpersonal skills, your sense of self, your boundaries and attaining your life goals.Therapy helps you better understand yourself and also build the skills to more easily navigate the world you live in and your friendships and family relationships. My approach is trauma informed, influenced by CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Techniques) and behavioral interventions, as well as my knowledge of your history and patterns present in your life. I don't fixate on the past, and our sessions will be focused on your future goals, but also your past influences your present, and we reflect on patterns when relevant, and their effect on your present life.I believe talking in therapy alone isn't enough - we must explore changes to routines and to our thinking in order to develop new improved habits. It's also important to work with our own unique individual nature - not everyone is wired the same, and there is no "one size fits all approach." There are many great tools out there we can use to help you thrive.Exploring and unblocking the "behind the scenes" beliefs that are holding you back are valuable, and my psychodynamic and NLP (Nuero-Linguistic Programming) life coaching training supports us in exploring the unconscious patterns that stand in your way of achieving your goals.I vet my interventions to make sure they are evidence based and empirically supported, and regularly read peer reviewed journals and psychiatry articles to make sure my interventions are backed by strong scientific evidence.I spent years working with college students in student services, and have a Master's degree in College Student Personnel Administration. I am also a Certified Health Coach through Institute of Integrative Nutrition and when relevant, believe it's important to explore lifestyle changes when evaluating our mental health.
